ABOUT AGENTCHECK

Know your agent. Check the facts.

AgentCheck is an independent Australian consumer information website helping people check NSW real estate agent licence records and understand why a separate regulatory history check matters.

What is AgentCheck?

AgentCheck helps consumers make better-informed decisions before appointing or dealing with a real estate agent in New South Wales. Our website lets you search publicly available NSW Government property licence records by name or licence number, view a selected licence record and continue to the official NSW Fair Trading Name and Shame Register.

Agents may promote awards, rankings, testimonials and referral recommendations. These claims can be useful context, but they do not replace checking a person's official licence and any published regulatory action.

AgentCheck is free to use and does not require an account. It is not a government website or an agent endorsement service.

Two separate checks — both matter

1. Check the NSW property licence

Search for an agent's name or licence number. Compare the name, licence number and suburb to ensure you have selected the correct person. Review the licence status, licence type, authorised activities, dates and any conditions published by the NSW Government. A name match alone is not proof of identity.

2. Check the NSW Fair Trading regulatory register

Open the official Name and Shame Register and search independently for published regulatory action. Confirm the person's name, licence number, dates and published outcome before deciding whether an entry relates to the same agent.

A current licence does not prove an absence of regulatory history. Equally, a published regulatory action does not automatically mean a licence is currently suspended or cancelled.

What AgentCheck does not do

  • We do not independently search the NSW Fair Trading Name and Shame Register or verify a visitor's selection there.
  • We do not rank, recommend, certify or endorse real estate agents.
  • We do not claim that a licence record alone establishes an agent's reputation, competence or suitability.
  • We do not provide legal advice or replace checking the official government records.

Licence information is time-sensitive and government data may be incomplete, delayed or unavailable. Always verify important details with the official source.
