NSW LICENCE & REGULATORY CHECKS

Check a NSW real estate agent’s licence

Before choosing an agent, match the person to their NSW licence record. Then check for published regulatory action.

1. Find the right person

Enter the agent’s name or licence number in AgentCheck. Match the returned name, suburb and number before opening the record. Similar names can belong to different people, so ask the agent for their licence number if you are unsure.

A suburb filter narrows the returned matches only. If there are too many results, search again with a more specific name or the licence number.

2. Read the licence details

Review the licence type, current status, expiry, authorised activities and any conditions shown. A current licence is a starting point; it does not establish competence, reputation or suitability for your property.

AgentCheck displays when the record was checked and links to the official register. Confirm missing or unclear information with the official source.

3. Check published regulatory action

Open the separate NSW Fair Trading Name and Shame Register from the selected record. AgentCheck copies the licence number when it can; paste it into the official register’s search bar. Match the identity and read any notice, including its date and outcome.

Use your browser’s Back button to return to AgentCheck and choose what you found for guidance. AgentCheck does not automatically search this register or verify your selection.

Checking the agency too?

A company’s corporation licence is separate from the individual’s licence. Use our agency licence guide to check the business behind the brand.
